The Challenge
Defence and deep-tech websites face a strange brief: the audience (defence primes, procurement officers, research partners) is small, expert, and impossible to win over with marketing language, yet the site is also often the first touchpoint before any formal introduction. Get the tone wrong — too salesy, too vague, too "start-up" — and a serious buyer disengages immediately. Engineering company website design has to communicate deep technical capability without becoming an unreadable wall of jargon for the non-specialist stakeholders (comms, HR, investors) who also land on the site.
There's also a sensitivity layer specific to defence: capability needs to be demonstrated without disclosing anything that shouldn't be public, which shapes what content the site can and can't show.
